What a year it has been! 2011 was a great year for Black Tiger Club (Beijing), marked with great achievements, milestones, events and accomplishments. Our membership base has grown since 2010 to more than 360 students! Here is a pictorial tribute to a tremendous year and many thanks to our awesome students:

The 2011 Beijing Black Tie Charity Brawl

The second Beijing Black Tie Charity Brawl was held on November 19, 2011, at the Beijing Hilton's Infinity Ballroom. Produced in partnership with Hilton Hotel, Black Tiger Productions and Hitman Fighting Championships, the show delivered exactly what it promised: an evening of non-stop MMA fight action in a classy "black tie" environment over a 4-course gourmet dinner with wine and spirits, and a guest list consisting of Beijing's prominent citizens, high-society personalities, celebrities and diplomats.

Nathan Janser: Bullied No More

Nathan Janser (right) sparring with a Junior Instructor at Black Tiger Fight Club, Beijing. Several months ago, 10-year-old Nathan Janser joined Black Tiger with a goal: to learn to protect himself from a school bully and build up his confidence and self-esteem. This is his personal story:

Hi, I helped prove that you are never too young or old to benefit from martial arts – and that Black Tiger offers great kids’ programs to help build fitness, skills and confidence.

I am a kid who is pretty kick-butt, but I didn't start out that way. In fourth grade, I was going to a new school. I didn't really like it there, especially because of a bully. It was a pretty bad half-year until Vince and his gym came into my life. He is a nice guy and world-class instructor.

I’ve been taking Jujitsu and MMA for about six months and I love it! The classes are really fun and I’ve felt a huge improvement in my strength and coordination. The biggest change has been in my confidence. If someone like the bully tries to noogie me or trip me, I know I can tell him to back off and if he doesn’t, I can do something about him. Vince and Jujitsu have changed my life and I’m really grateful.

Nathan now trains Muay Thai, Brazilian Jiu-jitsu and Wrestling three to four times a week, along with his sister Isabel. He recently passed his first level MMA test with flying colors. Nathan hopes to be selected in Black Tiger's elite Junior Instructors' Leadership Program next year. He is pictured below training with one of his favorite MMA fighters, Zhang "The Mongolian Wolf" Tiequan, the only Chinese fighter in the UFC. Zhang trains under Coach Vince as well.

Black Tiger CTT Fighters Win at Legend FC 5

Black Tiger Coach Yao Honggang Wins Legend FC Bantamweight Title

Legend Fighting Championships is Asia's premier MMA fight show where the best MMA fighters from all around Asia and Australia converge to determine who is absolutely the best! On July 16, 2011, three (3) fighters from China Top Team / Black Tiger represented China and swept the mat with all wins, including the new Bantamweight Title belt!

Coming in as underdogs in their individual fights, Li Jingliang, Wang Sai and Yao Honggang shocked the Asian MMA scene with explosive performances and newly developed striking and wrestling skills that no one, especially their opponents, expected. Black Tiger instructor and long-time student of Coach Vince, Yao Honggang, powerfully dominated his Korean opponent with fast strikes, efficient takedowns and solid ground control to win the Legend FC Bantamweight Championship Title belt.

Yao pounds his opponent Li Jingliang, fighting veteran Muay Thai fighter Alex Niu, also showcased his new Muay Thai skills to win the bout convincingly and advance to a top contender spot for the Welterweight title. Wang Sai, likewise, coming from a prior loss, advanced his rankings with a dominant performance leading to a TKO.

The coaches for China Top Team, BJJ Professor Ruy Menezes and Muay Thai Master Vince Soberano, were among the proudest that night as they watched the fighters that they taught, trained and trusted deliver victory after victory back to the team.

The China Top Team and Black Tiger partnership makes the team the most dominant MMA pro team in the country, as well as the most sought-after coaches for rising MMA stars in China. China Top Team / Black Tiger now has produced to only two international champions in mainland China: Zhang Tiequan, who won the URCC middleweight title belt, and Yao Honggang, who now is the Legend FC Bantamweight champion.

Kickboxing Dynamics - Workshop for Fitness Trainers

New Instructors Certified!

Thirteen (13) participants completed and passed their certification workshop at the "KICKBOXING DYNAMICS" Group Exercise Instructor's Training on May 28 and May 29, 2011, at Black Tiger Fight Club in Beijing.

After a grueling 2-day seminar/workshop, the new graduates are ready to add Kickboxing Fitness to their resume as fitness group exercise instructors. The following people successfully passed the course:

UFC 127 Produces First Chinese MMA International Fighting Star

Zhang Tiequan Represents China Top Team & Black Tiger at UFC 127

UFC 127 Making history After two months of high-intensity training and 10 kg weight-loss, a leaner, stronger, faster Zhang "The Mongolian Wolf" Tie Quan became the first Chinese to fight and win at the world's #1 fighting event, the Ultimate Fighting Championships. Bouncing off a loss in the U.S. in December, Zhang didn't waste any time preparing for the most important fight of his career. His long-time friend and coach, Muay Thai master Vince Soberano, joined forces with China Top Team's head coach, Ruy Menezes, and was tasked to develop and implement a training plan that would make The Mongolian Wolf drop 10 kg in 2 months and yet bolster his strength, and improve his striking skills. This, according to Zhang, was the toughest and most hardcore training regimen he has ever been through. And it worked.
