The CTT Connection returns to Black Tiger!
Fighters from China Top Team, the first and original professional MMA team in China, will be joining Black Tiger Club's coaching team to offer Mixed Martial Arts and new programs to students.
Starting Monday, April 22, fighters from China Top Team led by Legend FC MMA bantamweight champion Yao Honggang will be assisting Black Tiger coaches in all the Kids MMA and Muay Thai MMA classes. This will bring professional Chinese MMA components into our system to develop more robust training programs.
In addition we will be adding two new martial arts into our repertoire of classes: Brazilian Jiujitsu, Shuai Jiao (Chinese Wrestling) and Kyokushin Kai (Karate). These new programs will be kicked off through seminars and workshops next month.
3 Intensive Workshops for 600 RMB!!!
- Sunday, April 28 at 2 pm: Kyokushin Kai (90 min.)
Kyokushin Kai is a Japanese hard-style fighting style that incorporates Muay Thai strikes with Karate strikes and grabs, and Judo throws and submissions. - Sunday, May 5 at 2 pm: Shuai Jiao (90 min.)
Shuai Jiao is Chinese Wrestling, a highly effective system of sweeps, throws, amd takedowns. - Sunday, May 12 at 2 pm: Brazilian Jiujitsu (120 min.)
BJJ is the de-facto standard system of grappling and ground-fighting in MMA and undisputedly the most effective close-quarters fighting system in the world.
Upon completion you will receive certificates of achievement in the above systems.
Training attire: a Judo or Jiujitsu gi is very highly recommended for these workshops but not required. If you would like to purchase a gi uniform, we carry the high-quality, world-class Hayabusa brand in white or blue. Please contact us directly to order a set.

Bodyweight training, if done properly and progressively, will improve your overall athleticism significantly and build strength and muscular endurance. It allows for a more natural range of motion and doesn't stress your joints the way traditional weight training does. The "Beast" Workout is a compilation of bodyweight strength and endurance exercises originally developed for combat sports athletes, gymnasts and swimmers. How strong are you? Take the "Beast" Workout Challenge and you'll know... This program will be incorporated into our regular classes and personal training sessions.
What distinguishes MMA from Muay Thai, Wrestling, Jiujitsu, Judo, Taekwondo, Kickboxing, Boxing and other combat sports is the "ground and pound" factor: the ability to strike at your opponent while engaged in a clinch, grapple, or wrapped up in a grounded position. This skill requires its own muscular strength, endurance and technical skills which combine striking and wrestling. Using unconventional training equipment such as sandbags, grappling dummies, resistance bands, weighted vests and medicine balls, the Black Tiger Ground-and-Pound training will challenge and improve your core strength, muscular endurance, balance and agility unlike any workout you've ever experienced! This training is incorporated into the MMA classes on Saturdays at 10:30 am at Riviera Plaza, and on Sundays at 2:00 pm at Maizidian.
